Sikyon was a city-state in the northeastern part of the Grecian Peloponnesos. Depicted on the coin’s face is a chimera, a mythical creature of Greek antiquity. Physically the chimera possesses a head of a lion, body of a goat and a tail like a serpent. The creature was noted for spitting fire. A dove in flight is found on the reverse side.
