Arkarnania was one of several Corinthian colonies of the Greek world that struck coinage with the image of a flying horse known as a pegasos. Recognition of the pegasos felicitated commerce among the colonies, mother city of Corinth and neighboring populations.
The reverse image is that of a helmeted Athena, Greek God of Wisdom. Symbol A can be seen just below Athena’s helmet denoting Arkarnania.
