Bombonieres or boubounieres are favors for Greek weddings, bridal showers, engagements or Christenings/Baptisms. Bombonieres is a Greek tradition (also Italian), which is spreading across the world. Bombonieres are the traditional keepsakes given as gifts to guests in appreciation of their attendance. They can also be incorporated on the table settings or distributed from a decorated basket during the celebration.
Each bomboniera consists of at least 5 sugared almonds (named koufeta in Greek) which represent health, wealth, happiness, prosperity and long life.
