Greek Olives
A fruit with its roots in antiquity, the olive rightfully has a center place on the modern table. An excellent, healthful alternative or accompaniment to cheese and crackers, olives make a wonderful appetizer. They are available in jars, tubs or in bulk from the deli in their own brine, or dressed in a mouthwatering home marinade. Thanks to their rich taste and texture, olives are also an increasingly popular cooking ingredient in main dishes, from poultry and fish to vegetarian stews. Olives are a great source of the antioxidant vitamin E, which can prevent certain cancers and is known to have other health benefits.
